The History of University Forum
University Forum and Southern Miss Tradition
Since 1974, the University Forum has been the premier speaker series at the University of Southern Mississippi. Sponsored by the Southern Miss Honors College with support from the Office of the President, University Forum has brought some of the most respected and innovative cultural, scientific, and artistic voices in the world to Southern Miss. Past speakers have included Stephen J. Gould, Gloria Steinem, Bryan Stevenson, Russell Means, Lilly Ledbetter, Susan Sontag, G. Gordon Liddy, Kurt Vonnegut, Barbara Ehrenreich, E.O. Wilson, Art Spiegelman, Antonin Scalia, Carl Bernstein, and Sebastian Junger.
University Forum and Honors Forum
Any student enrolled at Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ can register for HON 321: Honors Forum, a class that enables students to earn one hour of credit for attending University Forum events and electives selected from a broad slate of scholarly and cultural events on campus and in the community. Students studying at the Chateau Program in France may earn Honors Forum credit by taking HON 321CA.
