Hattiesburg Campus

The University’s main campus is located in the heart of Hattiesburg.

The Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus spans one square mile and features notable landmarks such as the Lucas Administration Building (affectionately known as “The Dome”), a 20-foot-wide bronze eagle sculpture, and a gold street that runs under the football stadium. Quaint plazas paved with brick, promenades shaded by a canopy of oak trees, and quintessential Southern porches are charming features of this beautiful campus.

The University’s five original buildings, built in 1912, are still in use. Beyond the historic district, a series of state-of-the-art facilities dot the campus, including a 93,000-square-foot business school, a nursing education facility with an advanced technology simulation laboratory, and a polymer science center.

Hattiesburg is Mississippi’s premier college city.

With opportunities for part-time jobs and internships, plenty of venues for live music, , and a variety of local dining options, Hattiesburg is the perfect setting for a college campus. The University enjoys strong partnerships with city leaders and the community, and the city provides a warm welcome to students.

Known as the “Hub City” for being the intersection point of an interstate and three U.S. highways, Hattiesburg provides easy access to New Orleans, Mobile, Jackson, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

During home game weekends and tournaments, campus comes alive in a sea of black and gold! Fans embrace the excitement of Division I competition while also filling local restaurants and hotels. Visitors also enjoy viewing the All-American Rose Garden, Lake Byron, and the outdoor sculptures installed across campus.

The University hosts more than each year. Each summer, a variety of arts events are held on campus as part of the city’s multi-week arts festival. Southern Miss students and faculty take center stage, showcasing their talents both on campus and at events throughout the community.
