Preparing for Pre-Tenure Review
An overview of the process and required materials for the application for pre-tenure
review for tenure-track faculty will be provided followed by a panel discussion from
faculty who have successfully navigated the pre-tenure review process. Panel members
will address questions and provide tips for writing the narrative essay, suggestions
for evidence to include, best practices for putting together the dossier materials,
and soliciting feedback and support for this process.
Target Audience: Tenure-track faculty that will be going through the pre-tenure/ 3rd
year review process in the 2024 - 2025 academic year.

Watermark Faculty Success: Putting It Together for 3rd Year Review, Promotion, & Tenure
This session is designed for faculty preparing their dossiers for promotion and tenure
and pre-tenure review. It will review how to assemble the PDF evidence files, best
practices for putting your materials together, the submission process, and other considerations
for participating in a review process. Before the workshop, please review all files
and information located on the Promotion and Tenure site. The 'Dossier Information'
section will be especially helpful for this session.

Research Development 101: Laying the Groundwork for Funding Success
 Join us for a dynamic one-hour session that introduces the essential elements of research development. We will explore the critical steps that precede proposal writing, emphasizing the importance of thorough planning, idea refinement, and stakeholder engagement. Attendees will gain insights into how a well-structured research development process can significantly enhance the quality and competitiveness of their proposals, setting the stage for successful funding opportunities. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or new to the field, this session will equip you with the tools to navigate the research development landscape effectively.
Learning Outcomes
Understanding the Research Development Process: Participants will be able to identify
and articulate the key steps involved in the research development process, recognizing
how each contributes to the overall success of securing funding.
Interdisciplinary Application: Attendees will learn that research development is relevant across all disciplines and that the term "research" encompasses a wide range of fields, not just lab science and STEM, encouraging a broader perspective on research initiatives.
Enhanced Proposal Quality: Participants will gain strategies for refining their research ideas and engaging stakeholders effectively, resulting in more compelling and competitive proposals that reflect a comprehensive understanding of the funding landscape.

Show Up and Write! is hosted virtually on Teams by the Center for Faculty Development (CFD) weekly and provides a quiet open space for dedicated writing time. This writing group aims to support faculty, staff, and graduate student research by designating time for writing and increasing productivity through peer support and personal accountability. Join us on Teams and plan to focus time on writing an article, book chapter, grant proposal, blog, grading or another project.
Show Up and Write! will meet virtually every Thursday this fall from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 pm beginning August 29th, 2024 and will conclude November 21st. These sessions are come-and-go as needed for your schedule and does not include peer exchange. Faculty, staff and graduate students from all disciplines and ranks are welcome to attend.

GRADUATE MENTORSHIP LUNCH AND LEARN WORKSHOPS
12:00-2:00 PM | Peck House | Hattiesburg Campus
These in-person mentoring workshop are designed to help new and continuing faculty sharpen their skills as effective and positive mentors in their work with graduate students. The workshop will be roundtable discussions of case studies of realistic interactions between graduate mentors and students. For new faculty, this workshop will also satisfy the mentorship training requirement to receive graduate faculty status.
Lunch will be provided at the Lunch and Learn Workshops on October 29 & March 18. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided for the Mentorship Training Series.
Cocktails & Conversations
Faculty and Staff are invited to join AOP and the CFD at Mahogany Bar for an informal evening of cocktails and conversations! AOP is sponsoring this event, so come enjoy a drink and conversations with your colleagues for a lovely December evening.
