Alternative Service Break Program

Page Content

The Alternative Service Break (ASB) program is a unique learning experience, where students travel to different regions during spring, summer, and fall breaks, perform meaningful service, and explore an area's culture and history. During the trips, student volunteers participate in a variety of cultural, educational recreational and reflective activities to enhance their service experience. Teams focus on societal issues, such as hunger, poverty, public health awareness, youth education and empowerment, LGBTQIA+, civil rights and environmental issues.

Service activities are combined with reflection and education that challenge students to develop the leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills necessary to become real advocates of change.

Trip fees cover lodging, food costs, transportation, and service materials. Price varies based on destination and activities. Student are responsible for food purchases outside of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Students that would like to participate in the Alternative Break Program will need to complete:

  • An ASB Application and waiver
  • Fee payment
  • Training attendance
