Overview

The Office of University Communications provides essential communication services and assists University units with a variety of communication-related items.

University Communications' work is guided by overall institutional goals; a changing communications landscape; and the University's core messages of warmth and hospitality, robust research and innovation, and student success.

University Communications also manages and protects Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ's brand through communicating and ensuring adherence to the University's graphic and style standards.

University Communications maintains an active list of subject-matter experts who can offer insights on a variety of topics, including aquaculture and fisheries, polymers, large event venue safety and security, healthcare, and education. To inquire about faculty experts or to request an interview, email mediaexpertsFREEMississippi.

University Communications provides news and media relations support for top news stories, upcoming events, and noteworthy achievements among faculty, staff and students. Content is published to usm.edu/news and distributed to a variety of media outlets throughout the state, region and country.

Graphic and Style Standards provide a guide to applying the University's visual identity in a clear and consistent manner. These standards cover name and logo usage, official university colors, stationery, and buildings and locations. These documents assist communicators in developing materials that present a strong, consistent message about the University.

Community Group Tours

Campus Tours are offered to non-high school-aged groups. Please review the Community Group Campus Tour Guidelines before submitting the Community Group Campus Tour Request.

Prospective Student Tours

The University’s admissions teams offer tours to high school students, prospective students, and their families on the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses. Schedule a tour with Undergraduate Admissions.

University Communications offers a variety of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ branded materials for use by University units. Rental items are provided free of charge; however, an online rental request form must be submitted in advance by the requesting unit in order to reserve the item/items.

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Mailout (email) is distributed to all Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff once each week on Wednesdays.
