Transfer Transitions Mentor Program

What is the Transfer Transitions Mentor Program?
The Transfer Transitions mentor program matches new transfer students with a Transfer Transition Leader, a student leader in The Center for Student Success who is a transfer student. Three to four times a semester, Transfer Transitions Leaders meet with their mentees one-on-one, or with their small group (all new transfer students). At the end of every semester, the Transfer Transition Leaders will host one large event for the entire cohort of mentees.
I’ll be a new transfer student on campus this spring! Should I apply to have a peer mentor?
Yes! A peer mentor is a great resource to help ease the transition into the Southern Miss community. In the one-on-one meetings with your mentor, you will set goals for the semester, learn about campus resources, and get to ask your peer mentor questions about their experience as a transfer student. Students with a peer mentor may also get together in small groups throughout the semester. The small group structure allows new transfer students to connect and build relationships with other new transfer students.
How can I be matched with a Mentor?
Applications for Transfer Transitions are OPEN.

Where do I sign up?
Transfer Transitions Leaders (TTLs) are volunteer transfer student leaders in The Center for Student Success who serve as mentors and guides for new transfer students at Southern Miss. TTLs are selected through an application and interview process, attend multiple trainings, and serve as a Transfer Transition Leader for the following academic year.
Applications for TTLs are now closed and will reopen mid semester Spring 2024.
