ӣƵ in partnership with Barnes & Noble College has launched a new program designed to lower costs and increase access to required course materials for undergraduate classes before the first day.
Each semester, Fall - Spring - Summer, Eagle Direct Textbooks will allow students to select all their required course materials for their undergraduate classes for a flat fee, regardless of how much each individual textbook or digital access would cost to rent or purchase separately.

How It Works
Register for Class
All undergraduate students will be automatically enrolled into the program. Once you’ve successfully selected your courses, the bookstore will start preparing your order.
Verify Your Order
Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an order verification link to your ӣƵ email to verify your order and select your delivery preference (In-store pickup or direct ship-to-home).
Receive Your Textbooks
An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas.

Details
This program is an institution-wide response to the increasing number of students who lack access to required course material due to cost. This program makes getting textbooks easier on students, which will ultimately improve their success at ӣƵ. Eagle Direct Textbooks is estimated to reduce the cost of traditional textbook purchases by an average of 40 to 50% and provide them by the first day of class.
We encourage students to enjoy deeply discounted and guaranteed course material for the first day of class. We also understand this program may not meet the needs of every student. If you do not wish to participate in the program, you will need to opt-out every semester.
Students will have the ability to opt out once they have registered for their courses in SOAR. The opt-out page link becomes available when the term is active and you have registered for classes, and will only be available until the first add/drop deadline (6 working days into the semester).
To opt out, log into the new Campus Experience Dashboard, access the Opt In/Out page under the menu item “ Student Account” and clicking on “Eagle Direct Textbooks” link.
Yes, you can change your decision until the first day of class. Keep in mind you will need to return your textbooks if you have already received them prior to opting out. If you drop a class after the first day, you can receive a credit for those course hours when you return your course materials.
You can opt out and opt back in only once through the first add/drop deadline of the semester (6 working days into the semester).
Students will receive emails to remind them to verify their order. All students will get charged unless they opt out whether they verify an order or not.
Yes. Unless you opt-out, your materials will be held at the bookstore and your student account will be charged.
You may return the book to the on the same terms and timelines currently in place. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, revisit the email link to verify changes and select your delivery method. Or, visit the bookstore, and they will “swap” the required textbooks and codes, so that you have what you need.
Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the program will go back onto your student account.
This program is designed to be an all-in or all-out solution to bring affordability to campus.
Students have the ability to opt-out of the program through the first day of classes.

ӣƵ and Barnes & Noble are both focused on delivering affordable course materials options to our students. Eagle Direct Textbooks is a full-service course material program that delivers a highly personalized experience for students, retains faculty choice of course materials, and delivers deep savings to students. Barnes & Noble is also our contracted bookstore provider; thus, we coordinate all things textbook related with them.
Payment
This program will cost a flat fee of $20 per credit hour, regardless of how much each individual textbook would cost if you purchased separately.
This program charge will be included on the student SOAR account, along with other charges such as tuition and fees. This allows a student to use Financial Aid, scholarships, etc. to pay for their course materials. Supplies are not included in this program and will need to be purchased separately. If you add extra merchandise upon verifying your order, you will need to pay the bookstore with a debit or credit card.
The program will be handled in the same fashion as all other tuition and fees, and refunds will be processed in accordance with existing deadlines and procedures. However, if you pick up your course materials but do not return them within 48 hours of dropping the course, you will owe the cost of the textbook.
The student would need to work directly with the bookstore, and payment will be accepted by the bookstore. Charges for purchasing a book are not transferred to your student account.
Materials
Required course material is provided in the format requested by the faculty. Your bundle could have a mix of physical and digital materials depending on the adopted format.

Students who have disabilities or meet the criteria outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) should register with Student Accessibility Services (SAS). The application for SAS is available on the website www.usm.edu/sas. SAS will collaborate with professors, publishers, and the ӣƵ bookstore to ensure that students with qualifying conditions receive accessible materials. Orders cannot be processed until your order is verified. If you have already verified your order, call the bookstore at 601-266-4381. Be sure to provide them your order number, so they can check on the status of your order.

Send a copy of the syllabus to sm045@bncollege.com. Make sure to include important information in your email such as course name, course section and your contact information.
You will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester after successful registration of the continuation course.
Yes! Students are offered an option to buy the textbook at the end of the semester. Students would work directly with the bookstore if they wish to purchase.
The rental buyout price is a discounted price based upon the market value of that unique material.
You should receive your first email approximately 30 days before classes begin. If you have not received any emails from B&N, please check your junk/spam folder and make sure you have not blocked emails from @bncollege.com.
Digital course materials do not require you to select a fulfillment preference. Your digital materials will be available in university's LMS (Canvas) by the first day of class. At that time, you will also receive an email about your digital materials.
No. Please use the link included in the Eagle Direct confirmation emails to verify and reserve your books.
