Career Pathways
A minor in Social Media Content and Strategy is appropriate for students who wish
to work in social media in their major or in a related field. Social media jobs are
abundant in virtually all disciplines, including media organizations, marketing firms,
non-profit organizations, and a wide range of businesses. The social media field offers
many opportunities for new graduates who are digitally savvy and possess a wide range
of social media skills.
What You Need to Know
The minor can be completed in 15 to 21 hours and is open to all majors. School of Marketing students and mass communication and journalism students from the School of Media and Communication need only take 15 hours to complete the minor because of the overlap between their major and minor courses. For students in all other majors, the minor requires 21 hours. An internship in social media is strongly recommended.
