Voter Registration
Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ encourages all students to participate in local, state, and national elections. In order to vote in the , students must register at least 30 days prior to an election.
Student Rights & Responsibilities
Rights: Students at Southern Miss have a right to know the following:
- The procedures and deadlines for appling for financial aid
- The costs of attendance
- The available programs of assistance
- How our financial need is determined
- The criteria used in awarding aid
- The tpe and amount of assistance for which ou are eligible
- How and when aid will be disbursed
- The terms and conditions governing an aid ou accept
- The requirements for continued eligibilit
- The Universit's refund polic & federal official/unofficial withdrawal policies
- Whom to consult regarding our financial assistance
Responsibilities: Students at Southern Miss have a responsibility to:
- Complete applications accuratel and on time
- Re-appl for federal and state aid at the beginning of ever academic ear
- Provide requested documentation, verification, corrections, and additional information
- Read and retain copies of all forms ou sign
- Register for the required number of hours each semester
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Notif the Office of Financial Aid of all resources received from outside sources
- Know and compl with rules governing an aid ou receive
- Maintain up-to-date mailing and email addresses and telephone information with the
Registrar's Office
Additional Responsibilities
As a recipient of financial aid, ou have certain rights and responsibilities. On
occasion funds
are inadvertentl disbursed in error. hould ou receive financial aid funds for which
ou are
not entitled, it is our responsibilit to contact us prior to utilizing the funds.
Failure to do this
ma result in repament of the incorrect award.
Receipt of Other Financial Assistance
It is our responsibilit to inform us of an financial aid that ou receive from
sources other
than our office. Regulations require that we consider these funds in determining our
eligibilit for federal student aid. If ou receive an form of assistance, including
tuition
waivers, after our initial awarding, an adjustment to our award package ma be necessar.
In some cases, the adjustment ma include repament of federal funds. In all cases,
if an
adjustment is necessar, ou will be notified b email of whatever action is necessar.

tuition
waivers, loans, grants, fellowships, and an other source of educational assistance
ou
receive.
