The DuBard Association Method® is a structured, phonetic, scientifically based,multisensory teaching-learning strategy that is Orton-Gillingham based in content and principles of instruction. This structured literacy approach conforms to the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards. By educating yourself in this unique method, you are equipping yourself with the tools needed to assist individuals with language disorders, including the written language disorder of dyslexia.

- The Northampton phonetic symbol system for teaching sound-symbol relationships, multiple spellings of sounds, long and short vowels

Individuals who wish to enroll on an academic credit basis must be admitted/readmitted to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ the semester before the course and before the registration process may be completed. Contact DuBard School to learn more.
Completion of this course may lead to national professional certification as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) by the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA).
Program completion requirements: Participants are expected to complete the entire program. Individuals who do not complete the full program will not be recommended for CEUs. No partial credit will be provided. If attending the course virtually, participants will need access to a device with internet access to complete the course. Course Structure
This 45-hour course is comprised of two components. Participants access asynchronous online modules up to three weeks before the synchronous sessions. These modules include an overview of terminology, characteristics of different disorders, dyslexia, theories, and Northampton symbol production. Each module requires 80% accuracy on a brief quiz after the videos. These modules are completed prior to the beginning of the synchronous sessions. The second component of the course is live synchronous sessions which may be completed virtually or face-to-face.

The DuBard Association Method® training course of DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi holds accredited status from the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) for its instructional programs at the teaching, instructor of teaching, therapy, and instructor of therapy levels. IMSLEC is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1995 to accredit organizations that offer programs to prepare specialists in multisensory structured language programs.
