British Studies - Business & Culture (June 23-July 25, 2025)

British Studies

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Think global, act local?” The Southern Miss international business course in London, England, will help you appreciate the true meaning of this statement as you learn about British culture from a business perspective. As Americans, it is important to understand and explore the United Kingdom as much of our business practices and legal systems in the United States have been developed directly from the British system.

Our students spend four (4) weeks in the summer in the heart of London, one of the most dynamic and exciting cities in the world. London is one of the true global leaders in business, entertainment, fashion, finance, international trade, sport, and technology. Students earn six (6) hours of academic credit, and the program is based at the University of Westminster.

The class, which is led by Southern Miss professors, is a mixture of visits to British businesses, guest speakers, and visits to some of the most iconic cultural sites in London (and other parts of England). In addition to the class, students will have some free days and weekends to explore the city of London- and other parts of the United Kingdom and even another country- on their own.

Business & Culture in Italy (May 17-June 2, 2025)

Italian Studies

Step out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in Italian centers of business, culture, cuisine, and architecture as you enhance your understanding of the business world in Florence and Milan. Italy is a modern, industrialized country with a strong regional identity, where business strategy is often focused on luxury and tradition. Skip the classroom and learn first-hand from high-level professionals representing a wide range of business sectors. Enjoy fully guided, private visits to corporate headquarters, manufacturers and retailers, who are eager to share their business practices. Italy’s vibrant culture and rich history come alive as you and your classmates participate in a cooking class focused on local cuisine, explore the quaint walled city of Lucca on a day excursion, and meet and interact with locals. There is also time set aside for independent exploration, allowing you to see more of Italy or Europe.
